this is my first post in this sub, so i pray i followed all the rules. tonight, I made this recipe which I have made several times before. my partner brought home chicken thigh so we used that. after cooking the chicken, toward the beginning of the recipe, it was so delicious that i had to stop myself from eating it all before the stew was done! then when i made my bowl, something horrific: all the pieces of chicken taste like dirty socks to me! I thought it was the piece i got, so i got a new one-- same flavor. then i asked my partner what they tasted. they love the dish! ate all the pieces of chicken i found to have that awful flavor reminiscent of bad laundry. im mad confused and im wondering if anyone might have some insight into what's going on right now where the chicken was sooo yummy to me before the stew was done but now im just eating rice and sauce for dinner ): plain text recipe below: For the sauce 2 habanero pepper use 1 or ½ for less heat 2 large plum Tomatoes 1 onion divided 1- inch ginger root 3 cloves garlic For the Chicken 2 lb chicken thighs 2 teaspoon paprika cayenne pepper to taste salt and pepper to taste For the peanut stew 6 tablespoon oil remaining half onion - sliced 1 tablespoon Tomato paste 2 bay leaves 1 teaspoon thyme 2 teaspoon bouillon powder or 2 cubes ½ cup unsweetened Peanut butter Salt and pepper to taste 2 to 3 cups chicken stock handful of spinach optional Instructions Blend the tomatoes, half onion, pepper, ginger, and garlic. Set aside Season chicken with paprika, salt, and black pepper. Set aside Preheat the oil and fry the seasoned chicken for about 5 minutes on each side or till the chicken is well browned. Remove from heat and set aside. Add the sliced onions (second half of the onion) to the oil and fry till translucent. Stir in the blended sauce, tomato paste, and bay leaves and cook for about 6 to 10 minutes or until the sauce is well reduced and the raw tomato taste is gone. Add the peanut paste and chicken stock, and stir well to dissolve. Season with salt, pepper, seasoning powder, and thyme. Return the chicken back into the sauce and cook for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until the chicken is well cooked and you are satisfied with the thickness of the soup.
