First am grateful to Reddit members for all the help for sharing information with me. Been trying to make Dhokla from a long time for many years - no luck, but came across this youtube - on Instant Dhokla in Idli Steamer. We have downsized and so have only a few needed utensils so i do have an idli cooker. here is the website Terrace Kitchen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIRdQiG8EY4 I dont know how to post any pictures In lieu of sugar i used orange juice Sunny D (that has some sugar but i am comfortable using that) And i read somewhere that before steaming add baking soda like the recipe says but mix the soda with 1tsp water, soda and 1 tbsp oil before pouring on the batter. I bought many instant dhokla mixes but they never turned out good, more over some add much sugar in the store bought mixes. I recently bought 1 lb of dhokla and the price was close to $9 approx for 8 pieces, thats when i decided to try the recipe again. They also gave a Besan chutney with it called Fafda Besan Chickpea Chutney Found a recipe for that on this website ...someindiangirl - but did not try it but i found that simple as they do not add sugar in the chutney Just thought i would atleast once try to share something i found with readers as an appreciation from what i learnt from this website - Thank you again with appreciation! submitted by /u/pastryflour [link] [comments]
