So last night I was flicking through this cookbook (which I picked up free in a bin outside Sally Ann), looking for something new to try. This soup seemed easy enough, we had most of the ingredients, and the dumplings looked like a fun project for us on a dull rainy Saturday night. Then I noticed the previous owner had written, very firmly, Terrible, at the top. I am confused. How terrible could this soup be? The picture of the recipe is at the link. If you don't like clicking links, the soup is basically: sauté onions, add a tbps of chili powder, add garlic, add vegetable broth, add a tin of chickpeas, add a can of undrained diced tomatoes. While it simmers, make the dumplings: water, cornmeal, and a teaspoon of oil. Add the dumplings towards the end and cook for another 3 min. Done. Does anyone have experience with this soup? Is it truly as terrible as the previous owner of the book thought it was? Thousand Andone | Flickr submitted by /u/1000andonenites [link] [comments]
