A home cook is sharing a quick discovery of a Lomo Saltado recipe—a Peruvian-style beef stir-fry featuring onions, tomatoes, and fries—that has sparked a dilemma: how to adapt it for picky eaters who dislike plum tomatoes. The solution under consideration includes substituting tomato paste or blending canned tomatoes into the sauce to preserve the dish’s flavor while making it more kid-friendly. The post also invites alternative recipe suggestions from fellow food enthusiasts, along with a link to the original source for reference.
Just found a recipe for Lomo Saltado ( Peruvian Beef Stir-Fry for the simplest explanation ) which sounds amazing. The only kicker is my kids Don like to,ages and the plum tomatoes seem to be a big part of this. I’m trying to decide how to get the flavor with the chunks. A tablespoon of tomato paste in the sauce or hit a can of tomatoes with a stick blender. Here’s a link to the recipe I’d use. Granted I just found all of this in the past 20 minutes and if anyone has a better recipe, I’d love to see it. https://www.seriouseats.com/lomo-saltado-peruvian-stir-fried-beef-with-onion-tomatoes-and-french-fries submitted by /u/DealioD [link] [comments]
