Hi All! So to my knowledge, Oven has two modes: Regular and Convection. When setting the temp for Regular, it always is the temp its should be. But for Convection, it usually shaves off 25 degrees or so. So if I want 425F, Regular it actually does 425F, but if I hit 425F and Convection it lowers it to about 400F. EDIT: Here's a video of what I mean: https://youtu.be/84mitQqSPf4 . I type in 400, I click start, it drops it to 375 on me. Here's my dilemma. I keep seeing recipes stating "Set to X degrees with the Fan". Two examples: "My fan is pre-heated to 170 C set to fan" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5zSc653Zlc&t=158s "Increase your oven temperature to 160°C fan-forced" https://nikolopaa.com/portokalopita-recipe-greek-orange-cake-with-syrup/ This is where I don't understand: Are they talking about the Gross temperature or the Net temperature? So when they say "Set to 170C set to fan" do they mean the temperature I input into my stove pre-conversion, or should I up my temperature so that the converted temperature is the one they're stating? Thanks so much! submitted by /u/Willster328 [link] [comments]
