Thinking of buying a panini press. Heavily leaning towards this one: OVENTE Electric Sandwich Maker, 750W Non-Stick Plates, Black GPS401B can anyone vouch for it? — I like it mainly because of the sandwich shaped plates and because they are dishwasher safe removable plates. Also it has very few bad reviews on Amazon most of which were complaints about the "plastic breaking" or the "metal parts getting hot" which I'm okay with if it's not "plastic melting" and "non stick coating peeling off". If anyone on here has bought it can you tell me your experience with it? I also looked at— 1) George Foreman - I like this one but it would be nice to have different plate options to switch up the look of the sandwiches from time to time. Dishwasher safe plates is a plus. 2) Chefman — this would've been perfect especially with the floating hinge aspect but the plates are not removable so can't just throw it in the dishwasher and be done. 3) Black and Decker — I wanted to buy this. It has dishwasher safe plates. I've previously owned this exact one when I lived in a different country 20 years ago and it had no problems. But that was 15-20 years ago. The reviews now say that the plastic melts and the non stick coating peels off after a few months. The only one left on Amazon right now is a "used-like new" one which isn't inspiring much confidence in the product. If anyone has any other recommendations for a sandwich maker that will last, please suggest! submitted by /u/mara-xD [link] [comments]
