Thanks to everyone that commented, I learned a lot about bread pudding and bread and butter pudding. I ended up going (mostly) with a bread pudding by Anna Olson as my BiL said he had seen it on some food channel. I used currants soaked in rum instead of raisins because I'm not a fan of raisins and added diced apples and cinnamon and had my baking dish in a bain marie, served with a vanilla sauce. Very tasty and I'll make it again or some variation. Even my sister liked it and she said she didn't like bread pudding! Still on the list is Bread and Butter pudding and I'll do that another day. I'm intrigued by the suggestions of Earl Grey tea soaked currants and marmalade on the bread! Thank you again for all the help!
