"Bait and Switch: The Art of Deceptive Desserts. In a lighthearted and humorous approach to culinary experimentation, one Reddit user has sparked a conversation about creating recipes that seem appealing but are actually subpar. From adding an excessive amount of lemon juice to a small chocolate cake to incorporating unusual ingredients, the user is on the hunt for the perfect "prank" recipe that still tastes decent with a few tweaks. But are there any tried-and-true recipes that seem suspicious at first but can be salvaged with a few clever adjustments? This post invites users to share their own experiences with deceptive desserts and the tricks they use to make them palatable."

My niece and nephews and SIL love my bakes and always ask for recipes. I love giving them the “add avocado or mayonnaise to your chocolate cake” type of recipes to mess with their brains But today I want to send something that sounds good but is not. Something small that doesn’t waste too much. Like I’m thinking a whole cup of lemon juice on a tiny chocolate cake. Or is there something that seems like a prank but can be fixed? submitted by /u/tru-self [link] [comments]
